I am Carol, the designer and creator behind Carol Hladik Designs. I live Kansas with my husband of 29 years. We are empty nesters and love to travel and spend time in nature.

I have always been crafty. I love to do arts and crafts with just about any medium, and I often go to museums and stare at beautiful paintings and admire the brush strokes. I find creating to be an outlet, and a way to relax and escape the pressures of life.

My mother taught me to crochet at a young age. My very first project was a peach and white lopsided granny square baby blanket, with tassels on each corner.  Would you believe that I kept that blanket for over 20 years?  I had worked so hard on it that I  couldn't bear to get rid of it. I used that blanket as baby blanket for my dolls as a little girl, and later to my daughter used it with hers.  As years passed, and I continued to crochet, that blanket was a reminder of how far I had come.

I first dipped my toes in the design world in February 2016. My daughter was obsessed with panda bears and I had an idea to make her some boot cuffs that looked like panda bears peeking out the top of the boots. I loved them so much I designed a few other peek-a-boo boot cuffs as well.

In December of that same year my best friend asked me to make her a cardigan. I was very nervous because I had never made clothing before, but I was up for a challenge. I didn't look online for a pattern, but set my mind to creating one special for her. After a couple of trials and errors I finally finished her cardigan and sent the pattern off to testers. The Brandi Cardigan is still one of my top sellers today!

I haven't stopped designing patterns since, and I will continue to work hard to bring you designs that you will love to create for as long as I am able.
