Make a Cardigan with just ONE cake of yarn! Introducing the ANNIVERSARY CAKE CARDIGAN

Updated: Mar 15, 2022

When I first saw the Caron Anniversary cakes at Michael's stores I was shocked by the size and wondered what I could make with one that wasn't a blanket? Then it hit me, why not a cardigan that feels like you are wrapped in a blanket!

With winter upon us it is the perfect time to wear a bulky warm cardigan to wrap up in and stay warm. That is exactly what you get with the Anniversary Cake yarn. It is a super bulky 6 weight yarn, and has 1061 yards in one cake! I was able to make the XL size cardigan with only 1 cake of yarn which is absolutely amazing!

The first cardigan I made was a Christmas Gift, so it was only fitting that I take a photo of the yarn under the tree. For size comparison the white glass ball ornament in front of the yarn is a regular size ornament!

Here is another view for the size of the yarn cake,

The Anniversary Cake Colors are so bright and beautiful and the yarn is extra squishy! I had a difficult time deciding on which colorway to get, so I bought 3, and made 3 cardigans!

The grey and purple one is the Pelican colorway in a size Medium, the Tan and cream one is Sandy Shore in an XL, and the Pink one is Sour Cherry in a Large. Two on the right were gifted and the recipients love them just as much as I do!

I wanted this cardigan pattern to be easy enough that a newer crocheter could complete it, and unique enough that an experienced crocheter would love it too!

The pattern is worked in one piece with minimal sewing, which is a win, win!! Sleeves and pocket, yes, I said POCKETS are worked directly onto the main body of the cardigan, and seaming is completed at the end.

Another great thing about this cardigan is that using the Anniversary Cake, and allowing the colors to just flow as they come you will only have a few ends to weave in! Does anyone really enjoy weaving in the ends??

The pattern comes with sizes XS to 5XL, has multiple photos, diagrams, and I have included a few video tutorials for the parts that might be a little tricky as well. No no matter your learning style, you can complete this cardigan! The only question is, what color will you make yours in?

You can find the pattern on Ravelry and Etsy, simply click which one you prefer to shop. The pattern is on sale from 1/24/22 - 1/26/22 so don't wait!
